Directions to Hillsdale

If driving from the SOUTH, take Junction 36 off the M6 motorway. Follow signs for Windermere and then Ambleside.

From the NORTH, take Junction 40 off the M6 motorway. Follow signs for Keswick. As you pass Threlkeld, look for signs very soon after for Thirlmere and Grasmere. Turn left here on to the B5322 (St. Johns in the Vale). After passing Grasmere, follow the signs to Ambleside – about 4 miles.

Ambleside has a one-way traffic system. When you pass The White Lion Pub on the left hand side, you should take the next right between Gregg`s Cake Shop and The Royal Oak Pub onto Church Street. Hillsdale is situated at the bottom of the street, the last but one on the right hand side.

When you arrive, if you pull up outside the house we will give you directions for any requested parking. We have seven off road parking spaces for our Guests’ use. These are approximately 300 metres away. Parking is at Guests’ own risk and bookable at time of reservation.

If travelling by train, the main West Coast Line station is “Oxenholme – The Lake District”, where you then change for Windermere. From outside Windermere Railway Station you can catch a bus (555, 599) to King Street, Ambleside (100m from Hillsdale), or taxi to our door!
